September & October 2018

“Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting, and autumn a mosaic of them all.”

Fall? What fall? Life is zooming by, and I feel like the seasons aren’t even taking turns right now. Over here we went from 90 to 55, as if the weather saw a state trooper. Now it appears to be straight-up winter. Sorry, I get crochety and sidetracked quickly by the weather.  And I got that state trooper analogy from a meme, I’m not actually that clever!

Anyway, before even more time flies by and it’s Christmas morning, I want to get this past “fall” in the books/on the blog. To start, here are the September highlights:

First things first, we (meaning I) revamped our chalk wall. It only looked like this for about 5 minutes and then the kids contributed all of their own doodles to it including Ares.

As mentioned in my last post, the girls started school. Cece has been loving second grade and Rosie (with some convincing) changed out of Robbyn’s crushed velvet ice skating dress has been adjusting very well to 4K. In a couple short months, her coloring has improved drastically, she has learned all sorts of new songs, and she’s become a pro at riding the school bus! And she tells me every day when she’s had an issue with another student and the teacher had to separate them (smh).

Ares has been having a blast at home in the mornings with ME! We spend our mornings either going to the gym, running errands/getting groceries, or playing on the floor eating snacks. It’s the best and so is he.

And what’s the only thing he loves as much as time with mom? Time with dad! These guys are my favorite fellas in the whole wide world.

One of the definite highlights of this month was a night out with Kenzie to visit my bro at the new restaurant he is working at Lat 14. I cannot say enough good things about the food or the experience. I think they are set up to be extremely successful. I didn’t even really photo the food because I was too busy stuffing my face with it.

Speak of siblings my sister made a very brief visit to the Twin Cities! We had all the snacks and the sisterly walks and talks. I’m so glad I got to see her even if it was just for a few hours.

On one hot weekend in September, we met up with several friends for an epic play date at my friend Vicky’s. Parents and kids got to enjoy lunch as well as playing in the treehouse and on the zipline. Unfortunately, the adults could not partake in the zipline, but we still had a swell time.

As we do every year, we found ourselves at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. I tend to post the exact same photos of us every year… visiting the mermaids, the fairy wing forest, eating the giant turkey leg, etc. So I took less pictures this year, but we still had a fantastic time!

Onto October! This is when it pretty much became cold, gray, and wet for nearly all the days. So that means that I’m back to buying myself flowers again

Joe and I managed a date night to A Star is Born. Still weeping. Still listening to the soundtrack on repeat. If you haven’t seen it yet, GOOOOOOO!

The girls also attended a few parties including the celebration of Penny’s 7th birthday. Thank you to Emily and Jake for hosting such a fun Halloween-themed party! How cute are all of these little people playing Twister?

Also in October, Cece has pulling out her own teeth left and right and now resembles a tiny professional hockey player. She has 3 top teeth missing and said it’s hard for her to say the word “tea.”

As for me, I’ve been doing the mom thing as usual and then photos every single weekend. I booked just around 25 sessions for October.  Any free time/kid-less time has been spent in the office with my blanket, my off-kilter bun, and my coffee editing, editing, editing and trying to look sort of professional yet approachable on social media (is it working yet???)

I’m going to end this post with a cool little pic of Cece adding to the community art piece at the doctor’s office while we were waiting.

That’s pretty much all the things for October! Next stop, Halloween!
