This month I got to check off one more item off my (long) list of house projects. It was simply putting up an accent wall in our main level powder room. Like the rest of our house, it was totally fine and functional, but just needed some extra Rachel-esque zazzle. So I ordered some antique tin wallpaper from Amazon. Then a couple nights, after the kids went to bed, I got out my ladder and tools and made it happen!

So if you visit anytime soon, please, please ask to use the bathroom!
Since I find before and after photos so dang satisfying, I decided continue this post with my favorite house projects we’ve done in the past 2.5 years of living in our house.
Our mudroom before and after:
In the spirit of spring cleaning, I gave our mudroom a facelift in May. All I did was apply one strip of wallpaper, put away our winter gear, and added pillows that we already owned. The great thing about adding just one touch of newness is that it inspires you to organize and simplify the rest of the space which costs absolutely nothing to do and makes a BIG difference.
Our laundry room before and after:
Again, this was a perfectly functional space and did not need to be beautified whatsoever. But Pinterest and Hobby Lobby got the best of me and this project came to life last fall. I have no regrets! I used this subway tile wallpaper I purchased from Target in both the laundry room and our kitchen.
Kitchen before and after:
The first thing we did when we moved in was swap out those boring pendants for outdoor lanterns. We don’t get a lot of natural light in our kitchen/living area, so adding the white subway “tile” actually brightened it up quite a bit. And the fake distressed wood wall paper actually made our island a focal point of the room. So much less blah!
For Ares’s room, all I did was change out the curtains, add few pieces of wood wall art, and the birch tree decals. It’s probably the most peaceful, serene space in the house!
The girls’ room:
No wall paper here, but still a nice transformation! When we found out that we were having Ares, we bunked up the girls and spruced up their room. We were able to purchase a bunk bed from a garage sale, got a dresser for free from family, and found matching bed spreads from Target. Does the room look this nice at the moment? Absolutely not. Girls live in there. But I sure like remembering that one time it was all clean and shiny.
These have been some of my favorite house projects we’ve done in the past 2.5 years we’ve lived here. I love that they were relatively inexpensive, did not require much skill to do and, made a big impact. As always, thank you to Joe for allowing me to drop things in your Amazon cart and literally allowing me to do whatever I want to our home.
For this next year, I have ideas for our master bedroom and our office… we’ll see what actually ends up happening though!
(seriously though… the bathroom now makes for a pretty cute photo backdrop!)
